Badminton court flooring
Safety, performance, and durability – the most important considerations when choosing a floor for badminton courts, badminton halls or multi purpose sports halls. Badminton players make big demands upon their badminton flooring. Badminton is the fastest racquet sport in the world, so players must be able to trust the badminton flooring to have the right level of slip resistance as they move fast around the court.
Safety is paramount. A Badminton court floor must be shock absorbing to protect the players’ joints from impact injuries. A shock absorbing sprung badminton floor enables players to perform at their best.
Due to the speed of the game the wood floor must have a uniform colour, against which the shuttlecock can easily be seen. Junckers 22mm solid hardwood sports floors are ideal; they are available in a choice of grades, selected for uniformity of colour.
Wooden Badminton Court Floors
Junckers manufactures specialist solid hardwood badminton floor systems recommended for all levels of play, from grass roots to elite level. The UK’s premier sports universities use Junckers sports floors for badminton coaching and competition.
THE IDEAL FLOOR BOARDS
Junckers solid hardwood SylvaSport and Sylvaket floorboards used in combination with one of Junckers tested and approved sprung undercarriage batten systems provides the perfect badminton playing surface.
SylvaSport and Sylvaket solid beech floors are the ideal choice, selected for their uniformity of colour, superior strength, durability and longevity.
Technical performance
The technical performance standard for Badminton court floors is EN 14904 for multi purpose sports floors. The standard assesses the floor’s shock absorption, surface friction and visual characteristics, along with vertical deformation and ball response.
Junckers has a wide range of area elastic floor systems that comply with EN 14904 categories A3 and A4.
Junckers sports floors also meet the requirements of Badminton England and Sport England and are officially accredited by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
The ideal sports floor system
Junckers offers a range of floor systems to suit different construction levels and subfloors, all providing the high quality sprung floor that badminton players prefer.
RESTRICTED FLOOR HEIGHT

UNEVEN SUBFLOORS
If the designer wishes to omit the screed the UnoBat 62+ levelling systems are easy to install on uneven subfloors such concrete slabs.
Also for uneven subfloors, Junckers DuoBat 120+ system is a levelling system which offers an elite performance level.
PORTABLE DANCE FLOORS
Junckers Portable Floors are the ultimate in versatility.
Junckers Portable A3 and Pro Complete 44 portable floor systems offer the same performance characteristics as the range of fixed installation floors and are made from the same beautiful solid hardwood.
Easy Cleaning and Maintenance of your Badminton Floor
Day to day maintenance is fast and simple using Junckers purpose made cleaning products. Longer term the badminton floor can be cleaned and resealed to keep the wood protected. But one of the reasons that so many designers and clients choose a solid hardwood floor is its life span and low life cycle costs. A Junckers floor can be refurbished between eight and ten times during its life by sanding and sealing it. This also makes it one of the best environmental choices. Solid hardwood is a natural material, carbon neutral, has low embodied energy, is easily recycled. It has such a long life span that its impact upon the environment is significantly less than shorter lived materials.
Use of synthetic, point elastic and combi elastic floors for badminton and other sports is increasing being questioned because of concerns over use of plastics and the fact that worn out synthetic floors such as vinyl and polyurethane cannot be recycled.
Synthetic floors impose a large burden on landfill. Their life span is about one quarter of that of hardwood so four vinyl floors will be manufactured and disposed of for every one hardwood floor.
Solid Hardwood Badminton Flooring - The Best Choice for the Environment
The hardwood that Junckers uses is FSC®, PEFC™ or SFI certified, fully sustainable and carbon neutral, it is very easy to recycle at the end of its 60 year plus life span.
Pre-Finished Surface for your badminton flooring
Junckers solid hardwood floor systems are pre-finished, fast to install and cost effective. This all helps the installer to keep to his schedule and means that the owner will have minimal “down time” before the court will be ready for use. A solid hardwood floor offers unbeatable life cycle costs and the initial cost will be less that a similar synthetic floor finish, with all the low carbon and environmental benefits that solid hardwood brings.
